Did you know that website viewers typically leave a site within ten to twenty seconds?

That’s right, you only have a few moments to really grab someone’s attention. No pressure!

So when you craft a landing page intended to convert viewers to customers, you have to make it count. But how can you do that?

What makes a good landing page?

We’re here to talk about a few things you should do to make the most of your landing page. Read on to learn more.

Make Your Headline Count

The headline on your landing page has to make an impact. Because it’s one of the few things that the viewer is going to see when they get there, and because you only have a few moments to grab their attention, you have to make it strong!

The headline should indicate what it is your business does and, on some level, why the viewer should consider giving you their money (or time, depending on what it is you want from them).

It’s not a call to action (more on that later), but it’s still important.

The headline also needs to be relevant to whatever the viewer clicked in order to get to the landing page. Otherwise, they may feel either confused or misled.

Include a Clear Call to Action

What is it that you want your website viewers to do when they arrive on the landing page?

Landing pages should always have clear calls to action. There should be no confusion.

Some businesses create landing pages for specific products or product lines they’re trying to sell. Others put a contact form on the landing page if they offer services rather than products. There may be a link to the shop page, but avoid having too many links so, again, you don’t confuse your visitors.

Don’t beat around the bush. Whatever it is you want your viewers to do, make sure that it’s easy for them to understand and accomplish from the landing page itself.

Don’t Forget a Relevant Image

In most cases, it’s helpful to have a relevant image or design on the landing page. This is just part of good website design. If a landing page is just text, it’s not going to be visually interesting and the viewer may click away.

Videos are also acceptable, but keep them short and avoid having them auto-play.

Make sure the image or video relates directly to your product or service.

Write Enticing Copy

There should be some text on the landing page, and that text should be well-written. Good copy is persuasive and can be the difference between a viewer following through or them clicking away.

It’s best to hire a professional to write copy if you’re not an effective writer or marketer in your own right. Copywriters know how to write text that converts.

Make Your Landing Page Count

When you go through the effort of linking to a landing page, you need to make sure that it’s doing its job. An effective landing page is an amazing marketing tool, but only if you design it right.
